Hi my name is Joshua Foraker and this is my story.
I was born 14 weeks early on September 27th 1992. I did well for the first 5 years and 11 months of my life.On October 1st 1997 my mommy had to take me to the hospital with breating problems. I was diognosed with pnuemina and sent home.
In March of 1998 I was taken back to the hospital for the same reason to find out I had subglottis stenosis (narrowing of the airway)  -Joshua wrote this part-and  my  airway  was   closed  up  because  the  docter  put  to  many   tubes  down  my  thoat. -I spent the next four months having surgery to get the scar tissue out. On August 24th a trach was put in. The surgery did not work. I have had 11 surgeries in the State of N.C between March of 98 through March of 99. Nobody could help me in N.C so my mommy took me to see Dr. Cotton in Cinn.Ohio. This was a year later. Within that year my vocal cords where taken over by scar tissue. Now I sound like donald duck and probably always will.

In May of 2000 Dr. Cotton took 2 inches of my airway out in order to get rid of the scar tissue that was suspected of closing off my airway. My airway is open below the vocal cords but I still can't breath right because my vocal cords has scar tissue on them. I have had 24 surgeries and have to go back for another one next week. I will be gone for 9 days in Ohio.  I'm sure this is only going to be one of many before it's over with. If this surgery works I will still have to go back to start the process of decannulation (downsizing of the trach). Then there will be follow-up visits to be fitted for the voice enhancer,so I would be able to communicate with others.
